Spring RV Maintenance

Spring and winter maintenance are key to keeping your RV in top condition year round. Each season brings unique challenges and maintenance needs:
  • Inspect the roof and seals: Check for cracks or leaks that may have developed over winter and reseal as needed. 
  • Flush and sanitize water systems: Clean out any antifreeze and sanitize freshwater tanks and lines. 
  • Check batteries: Recharge or replace batteries, and clean terminals. 
  • Test appliances and electrical systems: Make sure all devices, lights, and outlets are working. 
  • Examine tires: Check for cracks, flat spots, and proper inflation. 
  • Inspect brakes: Ensure brakes are functioning properly. 
  • Clean and check the exterior: Wash your RV and inspect for winter damage. 
  • Lubricate moving parts: Slides, jacks, and hinges may need fresh lubricant. 
  • Restock supplies: Replace expired items and refill essentials. 

Winter RV Maintenance (Winterization)

Performing thorough spring and winter maintenance helps prevent costly repairs, extends your RV’s lifespan, and ensures you’re always ready for adventure no matter the season.
  • Drain water systems: Remove all water from tanks, pipes, and heaters to prevent freezing. 
  • Add RV antifreeze: Pump antifreeze through the plumbing system. 
  • Protect batteries: Disconnect and store batteries in a warm place or keep them charged. 
  • Seal and cover vents: Prevent rodents and debris from entering. 
  • Check and seal windows and doors: Prevent drafts and moisture intrusion. 
  • Inspect the roof and exterior: Repair any damage to prevent leaks from snow and ice. 
  • Cover your RV: Use an RV cover or store under shelter to protect from the elements. 
  • Empty and clean tanks: Sanitize and empty holding tanks before storage. 
  • Store propane tanks safely: Turn off and disconnect, storing them in a safe, ventilated area
